Undersea Creature

Scratchbuilt (unfinished)

I don't know what this is, but it was inspired by a photo of a similar model I saw in a modeling magazine. I really liked the idea of a creature so large and ferocious that it could snatch a shark in its jaws for a snack. I haven't finished this work yet, and probably won't. You can see the creature is without teeth, which I intended to add after the shark was modeled, and the eyes and a lot of other parts are not yet painted. I wanted to try the technique of using small spheres of clay flattened to look like scales. The result was so-so. I do like the way the head and limbs turned out, but I am less pleased with the fins on both the creature's spine and the shark, which are too thick to be in scale and lack detail.
